LEGEND by Marie Lu is the book 1 in the LEGEND Trilogy and it has 305 pages. First of all, the word badass doesn’t even begin to describe how much action this book holds. It’s written in a very special way, Marie Lu has made it possible to follow both main characters almost at the same time through both of their thoughts. It’s kind of like the chapters are devided between June and Day who are the two main characters, simply like 10 pages of June’s thoughts and 10 pages of Day’s afterwards which she wrote in two different colors which makes it easier to every now and then check whose thoughts you’re reading at the moment.

The story takes place in a futuristic western coast of the United States, now called the Republic which is constantly at war against the other parts of the US called the Colonies. June is a young girl at the age of 15, born in the rich part of the Republic. She got the maximum score at her Trial (1500) which nobody else in the whole Republic have ever gotten, which proves that she’s perfectly active both physically and mentally. Day on the other hand is a young boy at the age of 15, born in one of the poorest parts of the Republic. He failed his Trial and faked his death and now he is the most wanted criminal in town. When June’s brother, Metias, was murdered, and Day becomes the prime suspect, June gets to go on a hunt after Day. But in sudden turns the two of them uncovers the reason behind their crossed paths.

I clearly loved this book, all of the nonstop actions, suspense and romance sucked me in deep. In many moments it moves you, but it also thrills you and shakes you with excitement. A fun fact I got to know in the middle of the book was that the character Day is actually Mongolian like me!!! Exactly a moment after I got to know that I realized that both Day’s brothers, his dad and Day himself has Mongolian names. Such as Altan, Suren, Bataar etc. That fact made me feel more connected to the story and know that the story is not only about Americans, but Asians as well.

P.S. It felt a bit slow in the beginning until a bit later the two characters meet each other, that when I got sucked in and couldn’t put down the book.

I will give this one 5 out of 5 stars because of the badass action.
